Help refugees rebuild their lives
Many refugees in Nicosia are homeless or in poor quality housing. Money is tight. Boredom and inactivity is undermining their mental health. They have limited employment opportunities. The Dignity Centre offers practical support in a safe space to help them rebuild their lives with language learning and kitchen classes.
Earn an income
Our project that began as an opportunity to repair clothes has become a busy sewing workshop where women gather and can make money from items they produce. We sell those items through our online shop Refumade. We also distribute bicycles that enable people to get better jobs.
Dignity is at the heart of everything we do. The Dignity Centre is much more than a drop-in centre. It’s a place of hope and safety, a space they can call their own and feel safe. People can wash their clothes or have a shower. There is space to relax, be entertained and get support from friends.
HELP THE HOST COMMUNITY TOO
We buy what the refugees need locally, in turn supporting the local economy—and building crucial bridges between local people and the new arrivals.
